I am an experienced music teacher and passionate music educator having taught at a range of school settings and privately from my home in Solihull since 2000. A graduate of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the University of Birmingham, I have a portfolio career teaching flute and recorder, managing arts projects for a variety of arts organisations, and more recently coaching and mentoring arts professionals.
I teach adults and children, individuals and groups, tailoring my approach to suit the needs of the individual students. I look to develop the whole musician, encouraging curiosity and creativity. as well as fostering independent learning habits. I prepare and enter students for Associated Board or Trinity College exams with a high pass rate and where necessary I can prepare candidates for music theory exams as well. Whether a student decides to take exams is entirely and their choice - playing for fun is fine too! I have a dedicated well-ventilated teaching space at my home but if required I also deliver lessons online via Zoom.
I am a member of the ISM and an ISM registered teacher of flute and recorder. I am a member of the Disclosure and Barring (DBS) Update Service and hold a valid first aid certificate.
